Introducing postdoc Skye King

Skye King

Skye obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Psychology at Monash University in South Africa. After moving to the Netherlands in 2020, she did her Master's in Clinical Psychology at Leiden University and then went on to complete her PhD at Maastricht University in the Neuropsychology and Psychopharmacology department in October 2025. Her thesis, entitled "Face your Fears: Breaking through fear-avoidance and persistent post-concussion symptoms after mild traumatic brain injury", shed light on why some people struggle with long-lasting symptoms following concussion. The project utilised single-case experimental design studies to investigate the effects of a newly developed intensive exposure therapy for this patient population.

As part of her PhD project, Skye completed research using different methodological techniques including - amongst others - multi-level modelling, interview studies, and latent class growth analysis. Her interests lie in complex analytic techniques and research methods, as well as intervention research in all facets of psychology, leading her to the NSMD consortium.
