Introducing postdoc Ria Hoekstra
Ria Hoekstra started as a postdoctoral researcher at Maastricht University in December 2025. As part of both the Disordered Desires team and Network team, she will primarily focus on data management combined with methodological development and application of psychological network models.

Ria obtained a joint bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Amsterdam, followed by a research master's degree in Psychology specializing in Psychological Methods and the Philosophy of Mind. She completed her PhD at the University of Amsterdam, where her thesis, "Within, between and beyond heterogeneity: Uncovering individual differences using network models", focused on developing and evaluating methods to compare person-specific network models to study how psychological processes differ within individuals over time.
During her subsequent joint postdoctoral position at Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam, Ria expanded her methodological expertise in statistical approaches for modelling within-person dynamics. Her work centers on methodological and conceptual questions related to studying psychological phenomena as complex dynamical processes that unfold within individuals over time, aiming to strengthen both theoretical insights and methodological tools.
