Introducing PhD candidate Hana Hartmannová
Hana Hartmannová started her PhD in February 2026 at Maastricht University. Her research focuses on network-informed exposure therapy in severe weight disorders with comorbid psychopathology.

Hana graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a research master’s with a specialization in Clinical Psychology from the University of Groningen. During her master’s, she completed a clinical internship at Accare Groningen, where she worked with children and youth with mental health problems and obtained her BAPD certificate. Her master’s thesis focused on secondary traumatization in mental health care professionals. On the side, she worked as a research assistant in various projects, for example studying social networks of university students.
During her PhD project, Hana aims to investigate the effects of exposure interventions on symptom networks of eating and weight disorder patients awaiting bariatric surgery. She will study whether (and how) transdiagnostic networks change by exposure, and what the working mechanisms are. She will make use of EMA data as well as clinical interviews and utilize Network Intervention Analysis. She will be supervised by Ghislaine Schyns, Anita Jansen, and Merel Kindt.
