Alexandru Botea

Alexandru Botea is a PhD candidate in the Emotional Memory team, supervised by Merel Kindt, Tessa Blanken, and Marie Deserno. His research uses Single-Case Experimental Designs (SCEDs) to develop a measurement foundation for clinical symptom networks and assess their utility for the personalized treatment of depression, anxiety, and OCD. Previously, he worked with Eiko Fried at Leiden University on the phenomenology of sudden changes in depression symptomatology. For his master thesis, supervised by Jutta Joormann and Mark Chen at Yale University, he combined Ecological Momentary Assessment with computational modelling to study how sexual and gender minority youth regulate their emotions following daily minority stress. Outside of research, he is an avid reader of science fiction, enjoys video games, and swims.
