Introducing PhD candidate Rebecca Schulz

Rebecca Schulz started her PhD on November 1st, 2024 at the University of Groningen and recently joined the Cognitive Control team. Her co-funded project explores the role of meaning in life in depression symptoms, with a particular focus on investigating causal mechanisms to inform more effective treatment approaches for depression.

Rebecca Schulz

Rebecca completed both her bachelor's degree in Psychology and her research master's in Clinical Psychology and Statistics at the University of Groningen. During her master's, she gained experience in structural equation modeling and simulation studies. Her research internship explored causal networks in eating disorders in the context of a meaning in life intervention. Building on this foundation, Rebecca's PhD project integrates both methodological and clinical perspectives. She applies a range of complementory causal research methods - including experimental designs, longitudinal studies, and statistical modeling techniques - to identify potential causal pathways linking meaning in life with depression symptoms and related psychological risk factors. The ultimate goal is to inform the development of more targeted and effective interventions for depression.
