Jonas Haslbeck, a postdoctoral researcher at NSMD, received a veni grant from NWO this month. He will investigate the modelling of heterogeneity in psychological networks.

The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) provides research grants to scientists, for example through the NWO Talent Programme. Veni grants (of up to EUR 280,000) are for researchers who received their PhDs less than three years ago. Later in their career, they can apply for a Vidi or Vici. The grants are only awarded to researchers with above-average academic qualities.

Haslbeck is an expert in network methodology. In his Veni project 'Modelling heterogeneity in psychological networks', he delves deeper into investigating subgroups in network models. To do so, he will analyse existing methods and develop new ones to model subgroups in network models for both cross-sectional and time-series data. Eventually, he hopes to apply the new methodology to research on climate change communication, chronic pain treatment and depression.
